Introduction to Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts

The Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts was born in 2005. Formerly known as Shanghai Academy of Visual Arts, Fudan University, in April 2013, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, our correctional college was transferred to an independent undergraduate college: Shanghai Academy of Visual Arts. She is the product of the world trend and the call of the times in accordance with the development of culture and art. As the only comprehensive visual arts college in Shanghai, she will lead the concept of visual arts, build a platform for creative visual arts, and cultivate outstanding artistic talents in accordance with the motto of “Loyalty, Excellence, Innovation, and Harmony”.

As a new type of art school with a new concept, new system, new model, and new mechanism, the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts is committed to exploring an open school model that is close to the industry and integrating into the society, and a talent training model of industry-academia cooperation and resource sharing. The SIVA website is a window to show this exploration, and it is also a portal for all sectors of society to participate in and supervise running a school.

The school has 329 full-time teachers, 158 full-time professors and associate professors, more than 480 part-time teachers, and more than 80 honorary, guest, and part-time professors. Among the full-time teachers, there are 206 people with a master’s degree or above, accounting for 62% of the total number of full-time teachers; 158 teachers with associate senior professional titles or above (including 61 senior professional and technical positions), accounting for 48%. Among the full-time teachers of the school, there were 2 overseas visiting scholars funded by the Municipal Education Commission, and 2 young teachers training funding projects.
