Hebei Vocational College of Politics and Law (河北政法职业学院) is the birthplace of law education in Hebei Province, and has made important contributions to the construction of democratic legal system and economic and social development in Hebei Province. Formerly known as the Hebei Provincial College of Construction, the college was established in July 1949 to meet the needs of economic, construction, and legal personnel after the nation’s liberation. The first dean was concurrently chaired by Comrade Yang Xiufeng, Chairman of the People’s Government of Hebei Province. In April 1954, it was rebuilt as a political and legal cadre school in Hebei Province. In November 1983, it was restructured into Hebei College of Political and Legal Management and Cadres, which undertook the province’s legal professional adult college education and political and legal system in-service cadre job training. In April 1998, the Hebei Provincial Department of Justice and the Hebei Lawyers Association established the Hebei Law School at the college to regularly train practicing lawyers. In April 2001, it was rebuilt into the country ’s first legal vocational college—Hebei College of Political Science and Law, and held general higher vocational education. It retained the function of “Hebei College of Political Science and Law Management Cadres” and continued to undertake adult college education, job training, and universities. The college is located in Xinhua District, Shijiazhuang City, covering an area of 1,229 acres. There are three campuses.
