Founded in 1958, Dalian Polytechnic University (大连工业大学, website) is one of the earliest 4 light industry colleges in China. Originally affiliated with the Ministry of Light Industry, it was transformed into a system co-constructed by the central and local governments in Liaoning Province in 1998. Approved by the Ministry of Education in March 2007, the school was renamed Dalian University of Light Industry as Dalian University of Technology.
