Introduction to Changchun Institute of Technology
Changchun Institute of Technology (长春工程学院, website) is a provincial general undergraduate university with a background in engineering, management science, science, art, literature, and other disciplines. It has a deep background in basic industrial industries such as architecture, water conservancy, electricity, geology, and distinctive school characteristics. The school is a university jointly established by the People’s Government of Jilin Province and the Ministry of National Emergency Management. The Ministry of Education implements the “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan” to implement colleges and universities. The “Service Training Program for National Special Needs Talents-Bachelor’s Degree Granting Units Launch Master’s Degree Programs.”, “CDIO Engineering Education Reform” pilot universities, “New Engineering” comprehensive reform projects implementation colleges, “EU Erasmus Graduate Internationalization Training Project” implementation colleges, “Jilin Province transformation development demonstration colleges”. The school has the qualifications for enrolling high-level athletes. It is one of the first five universities nationwide to pilot preparatory classes for children of border guards. It was once one of the nation’s 100 universities with national student enrollment qualifications.
Changchun Institute of Technology currently has two campuses, Hudong and Huxi, covering a total area of 458,000 square meters. The total building area of various school buildings is 463,000 square meters. It has a fixed asset value of 1.004 billion yuan, of which teaching and research equipment is 429 million. Yuan, the library has 1.675 million Chinese and foreign paper books and 1.253 million electronic books.
The university currently covers 5 disciplines including engineering, management, science, art, and literature; 16 professional training directions for graduate students; and 6 provincial-level high-level disciplines. There are 19 teaching colleges (departments) and 45 undergraduate admissions programs. 1 National Comprehensive Reform Pilot Program for Local Colleges and Universities, 8 National and Provincial Specialty Programs, 8 Programs Passed the National Engineering Education Professional Certification, 7 National and Provincial Programs for the Implementation of the “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan”, 2 National CDIO pilot programs, 8 provincial high-level specialties, 10 provincial first-class specialties, 5 provincial brand specialties, and 7 provincial-level talent training model innovation experiment zones.
Changchun Institute of Technology currently has more than 16,000 full-time undergraduate, graduate and international students. The school adheres to the strategy of establishing schools with unique characteristics, strengthening schools with talents, and reforming and administering schools. It is based on Jilin, serves the northeast, and radiates the whole country. High-level application-oriented talents with solid theoretical foundations, strong practical ability and innovative transformation ability. Since the establishment of the school, nearly 150,000 high-quality application-oriented talents have been cultivated for the country, and more than 50% have been employed in large and medium-sized state-owned enterprises. E Jingping, Minister of Water Resources, Wang Dexue, former deputy director of the State Administration of Work Safety, and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. A large number of outstanding alumni, including Xu Jian, Duan Chenggui (Bo Shuo), Vice Chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Associations, and Guo Junhua, the country’s “Top Ten Most Beautiful Geological Team Members”. For many years, the employment rate of undergraduates has always been at the forefront of universities in the province, and the graduate employment rate is 100%. The school has established 35 alumni associations throughout the country, and the alumni service system has been continuously improved.
Changchun Institute of Technology currently has more than 1,300 faculty and staff, including 975 full-time teachers, more than 80% of which are “dual-teacher and dual-energy” teachers, with 132 senior titles, 354 deputy senior titles, and 95 master’s tutors. More than 100 person-times have won 10 million talents in the new century, special allowances from the State Council, outstanding teachers from the country and Baosteel, new century talents from the Ministry of Education, senior experts from the provincial government, special allowances from the provincial government, outstanding innovative talents from the province, outstanding teachers from Jilin Province, and famous teachers from Changbai Mountain Honor. Fifty-eight people have been employed as doctoral or master’s tutors by relevant research units and universities.
The Changchun Institute of Technology has established cooperative relations with more than 30 foreign universities, such as the University of the West of Scotland, the Southern Russian Technical University of Russia, the New Mexico State University of the United States, and the University of Veravilillo, Spain. Carry out international academic exchanges and scientific research collaborations, and organize undergraduate education projects in cooperation with the University of the West of Scotland and the Russian Technical University of Russia. The school steadily develops international student education, and the number of international students is increasing year by year.
