Introduction to Beibu Gulf University
Beibu Gulf University (北部湾大学, website) is a full-time general higher education school focusing on engineering, science, management, and multidisciplinary development. The school is located in Qinzhou, a core port city in the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone. The campus covers an area of 2070 acres. The 3A-level scenic campus with Lingnan style, coastal scenery and Southeast Asian style characteristics provides a good environment for teaching, research, learning and living for teachers and students.
Beibu Gulf University was formerly the Qinzhou Normal School founded in 1973; in May 1991, the Qinzhou Teachers College was established; in February 2006, it was upgraded to Qinzhou College; at the end of November 2018, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of the North on the basis of Qinzhou College Bay University.
The school currently has 50 undergraduate majors, 3 master’s degree authorization points, and more than 17,000 full-time students. There are more than 1,200 faculty members, including more than 800 full-time teachers. Among the teachers are a group of state-level and autonomous region-level talents such as national teaching masters, nationally-appointed experts, Bagui scholars, autonomous region-appointed experts, Guangxi’s “hundreds of thousands of talents” second-level candidates, and the first batch of Guangxi high-level talents. The school has a number of high-level innovation teams in Guangxi higher education institutions, and high-level innovation teams in Beibu Gulf Economic Zone.
Beibu Gulf University has 18 teaching units including Ocean College, Maritime College, and School of Mechanical and Naval Engineering (Engineering Training Center). There are more than 50 provincial and above teaching and research platforms including provincial key laboratories (engineering technology research centers), provincial specialty programs, innovation and entrepreneurship reform demonstration programs, experimental teaching demonstration centers, and virtual simulation experiment teaching centers.
Beibu Gulf University is based on Beibu Gulf, facing the South China Sea and ASEAN, serving the national strategy and regional economic development. It adheres to the integration of production and education, uses the industry-university-strategic strategic alliance as a platform, and focuses on the cultivation of practical and innovative capabilities, employment and entrepreneurship capabilities. Collaborative education and collaborative innovation have formed a distinctive school-running model and a training model for applied talents. In 2007, the school took the lead in setting up a maritime major in Guangxi universities, filling the historical gap in which Guangxi has oceans and Guangxi universities have no ocean majors. In 2011, it became the only Guangxi university to receive training for national senior seafarers and national first-class fishermen. Undergraduate colleges. Beibu Gulf University has formed distinctive marine education characteristics. It has set up a number of marine-related majors such as marine science, marine engineering, marine technology, aquaculture, ship and marine engineering, port and channel engineering, and coastal engineering. The mechanical engineering major was selected as a national first-class undergraduate professional construction site. There are 9 primary education, mathematics and applied mathematics, chemical engineering and technology, marine technology, ship and marine engineering, food science and engineering, aquaculture, logistics management, product design, etc. Majors were selected as provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction sites; there are 2 Guangxi first-class disciplines (cultivation) in aquaculture, shipbuilding and marine engineering; 7 provincial key disciplines (including cultivation) in marine science, aquaculture, shipbuilding and marine engineering; and Guangxi Beibu Gulf Marine Biodiversity Conservation Key Laboratory, Guangxi Beibu Gulf Marine Disaster Research Key Laboratory, Guangxi Ship Digital Design and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Technology Research Center and a number of provincial marine discipline development platforms. In the study area of the conservation of marine species such as Chinese white dolphins, Chinese tapirs, pearl oysters, and oysters, and the protection and utilization of island resources, the research area and even the country’s leading level.
Beibu Gulf University actively promotes the process of internationalization, and has established exchanges and cooperation relationships with more than 40 universities in more than 20 countries and regions, including Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Poland, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and faces more than 40 countries in Asia, Africa, and Oceania. And the region recruits about 600 foreign students.
