Introduction to Anhui University of Science and Technology
Anhui University of Science and Technology (安徽理工大学) is a key high-level university with special features in Anhui Province. It is a university jointly established by Anhui Province and the Ministry of Emergency Management of the People’s Republic of China. The “Engineer Education and Training Plan” is implemented in universities. In 2006, the school won an excellent grade in the evaluation of the undergraduate teaching work level of the Ministry of Education. The school covers an area of about 3,200 acres.
Founded in 1945, Anhui University of Science and Technology is the first engineering university in Anhui Province, and is one of the first two universities in the country to develop mining talents. In 1955, the school was upgraded from Huainan Coal Mine Industry College to Hefei Mining Institute. In 1958, the school was renamed Hefei University of Technology. In 1971, the coal mining-related disciplines and other institutions were relocated to Huainan. After relocating to Taishan, Shandong, some left to form Huainan Coal Mine School) and merged to form Huainan Coal College. After that, it went through the period of running Huainan University of Mining and Technology, Huainan Institute of Technology and other schools. During this period, the former East China Coal Medical College and Huainan Chemical Engineering School were successively merged. In 1998, the school was transferred to Anhui Province from the Ministry of Coal Industry and implemented a management system of “co-construction between the central and local governments, focusing on local management”. In 2002 the school was renamed Anhui University of Science and Technology.
Anhui University of Science and Technology has nearly 2,000 faculty and staff, nearly 1,300 full-time teachers, and more than 600 people with senior titles, including one academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, one member of the discipline review team of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and three national leaders. There are 6 people in the New Century Excellent Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education, 35 academic and technical leaders in Anhui Province and their backup candidates, and 42 people who enjoy special government allowances from the State Council. The school also has a high-level part-time faculty composed of more than 400 experts and professors, including 22 academicians and 1 overseas academician. It has 4 major project teams and 2 key project talent teams in Anhui Province.
The university has graduate schools and 17 colleges (departments). There are 6 post-doctoral research stations, 6 first-level discipline doctoral sites, 30 second-level discipline doctoral sites; 21 first-level discipline master’s sites, 110 second-level discipline master’s sites, 9 master’s degree authorized categories, 78 Undergraduate. It has 8 provincial key disciplines, and has been approved for 2 major provincial discipline construction projects and 2 provincial first-class discipline awards and supplementary funding projects. In the fourth round of national disciplinary evaluations, seven disciplines were on the list, and six of them were ranked first in provincial universities. The school has formed a school system with engineering as the main body, featuring geology and mining, blasting and other disciplines, and a coordinated development of engineering, science, medicine, management, literature, economics, law, and art.
Anhui University of Science and Technology currently has more than 24,000 full-time undergraduates and nearly 3,000 doctoral and graduate students. Passed 8 engineering education certification majors, 6 national specialty majors, 4 national comprehensive comprehensive reform pilots, 1 national excellent course and 1 excellent video public course, 1 national teaching team, and innovative experiment of national talent training model 1 district, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 5 national engineering practice education centers. In 2016, it was approved as the first batch of provincial entrepreneurial colleges in Anhui Province.
Since the establishment of Anhui University of Science and Technology, it has trained more than 200,000 talents of various types for the country. Among the undergraduates who resumed the college entrance examination, Peng Suping, Yuan Liang, and Chen Xiangsheng were elected academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. In 2016, the school was firstly selected by the Ministry of Education as the “National Typical Experience University of Innovation and Entrepreneurship” (50 universities nationwide) and “National First Batch of Model Universities for Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform” (99 universities nationwide); twice as “National Advanced Collective for Graduate Employment Work in General Colleges and Universities”; Selected as “Advanced Collective for Employment Work in Anhui Province”; It won the first place in the evaluation of the provincial employment dynamic monitoring system. Anhui University of Science and Technology carried out scientific research and technical service work around economic and social needs, and initiated the establishment of a “Cooperative Innovation Organization for Safe, Intelligent and Accurate Mining of Coal”. Since the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, it has undertaken more than 3,800 scientific research projects of various types, including “973”, “863”, National Science and Technology Support Plan, National Key R & D Plan, National Natural Science Fund, and National Social Science Fund, etc. With an annual average scientific research funding of nearly 150 million yuan; since the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, it has received 5 national awards, 18 provincial and ministerial first-class awards, 1 national innovation award, and 1 Chinese patent award; it has won the Anhui Innovation Innovation Award. One team award, one Anhui Provincial Innovation Leadership Certificate, one Anhui Patent Gold Award and 240 scientific and technological achievements awards by the Ministry of Education, Anhui Province and National Industry Association. More than 800 domestic and international invention patents were authorized. The school has been approved by the State Key Laboratory of Mining Response and Disaster Prevention and Control in Deep Coal Mines, the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Precise Mining of Coal Safety, the Key Laboratory of Industrial Dust Control and Occupational Safety and Health Ministry of Education, and the National Innovation Talent Training Demonstration Base. The school now has provincial and ministerial level research and innovation platforms such as the National Engineering Laboratory for Coal Mine Deep Well Construction Technology (co-construction), the Ministry (province) key laboratories, engineering laboratories, engineering research centers, collaborative innovation centers, international scientific and technological cooperation bases, and academician workstations. 32. Anhui University of Science and Technology strengthened cooperation with school administration, school land, school enterprises, schools and other units, successively with the Pingxiang Municipal People’s Government, Huangshan Municipal People’s Government, Tongling Municipal People’s Government, Wuhu Municipal People’s Government, Jincheng Municipal People’s Government, Ordos Yijinhuoluo Banner, Tongling Nonferrous Metals Holding Co., Ltd., National Energy Investment Group Co., Ltd., China Coal Energy Group Co., Ltd., Hefei Institute of Material Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China University of Mining and Technology signed strategic cooperation agreements. The Environmentally Friendly Materials and Occupational Health Research Institute (Wuhu), the Energy Revolution Engineering Technology Research Institute (Jincheng), and the National Key Laboratory Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (Hefei Branch Center) have been established; actively integrated into the Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center and participated in Anhui The Provincial Energy Research Institute was established to be responsible for the research on the efficient and clean utilization of coal.
