Introduction to Soochow Foreign Language School
Soochow Foreign Language School (苏城外国语学校, website) is an international school that implements IB courses built by Suzhou Guanghua Group with an investment of 850 million yuan.
The school began preparations in 2017 and officially enrolled students in September 2018. The school is located in the heart of Yuanhe High-tech Zone, Xiangcheng District, at No. 188 Yucheng Road, close to the Huolidao business district, and less than 10 minutes’ drive from Yaoxiang Station and Suzhou North Station on Metro Line 4. The school covers an area of 100,000 square meters, with a building area of 137,000 square meters. It has an early education center, kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school and international high school. The domestic high school department will officially enroll students in the fall of 2023.
The school is committed to providing every student with tailor-made and most suitable education. The whole school implements the “54 system Y-type” curriculum model: kindergarten and primary school 1-5 grades offer PYP integrated courses authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB); junior high school grades 6-9 offer high school entrance courses and IB middle school integration courses ( National Core Curriculum + IGCSE + MYP); Grades 10-12 of the International High School offer DP preparatory courses, A-Level preparatory courses, IFD preparatory courses authorized by IB, and 2+1 preparatory courses for the double diploma of Sino-Canada and Sino-Japanese high schools.
In the four years since its establishment, the school’s advanced school-running philosophy has attracted the establishment of a team of well-known principals in the country, famous principals in Suzhou, and a management team with rich experience from home and abroad, as well as international teachers from Britain, America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and famous people from all over the country. The school implements small class teaching and fully enclosed management, provides early and evening school buses for primary school students in need, and meets the accommodation needs of some primary school students. Junior high and high school students implement weekly boarding. The school mainly recruits Chinese students, including students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, as well as some foreign students.
In the spring of 2021, the number of students in the school exceeds 2,300, and there are more than 400 teachers at home and abroad, including 41 international teachers, with a teacher-student ratio of 1:5.
