Introduction to Shanghai High School
Shanghai High School (上海中学, website) is the first school in Shanghai to carry out innovative literacy cultivation projects for high school students. It is a pilot school for the National Education System Reform Project “Exploring a Base for Training Creative Talents”. As of 2018, the school covers an area of more than 340 acres; there are more than 4,200 students in the school, including more than 1,200 students in the headquarters and nearly 3,000 students in the international department; there are 362 full-time teachers, more than 150 bilingual teachers, and more than 110 foreign teachers.
Shanghai High School has 105 current or former leaders at or above the provincial and ministerial level, 57 academicians of the two academies, more than 30 generals of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, and more than 200 university presidents. The school took the lead in carrying out an early cultivation experiment of top-notch innovative talents, which has achieved fruitful results in more than ten years of exploration and has been promoted and recognized throughout the city and nationwide.
