Introduction to Hefei No.8 High School
Hefei No.8 High School (合肥八中, website) was founded in 1956. In 1999, it was rated as a model high school in Hefei, and in 2002 it was rated as a model high school in Anhui Province. In 2008, the school’s reorganization system was relocated from the old campus of Tongcheng Road to the Hefei Municipal Culture and Cultural New District, and a brand new modern eighth middle school was born.
The school now covers an area of 150 acres, with a construction area of 140,000 square meters. There are more than 100 classes, more than 5,300 students; more than 420 faculty members.
In 2009, the first place in the province’s liberal arts and sciences simultaneously fell into eight middle schools. In 2010, it won the first place in the municipal science department, and in 2011 the first place in the municipal liberal arts department. In 2012 and 2013, the university had seven indicators for the city’s college entrance examination, and our school won the first of six. In the past three years, the college entrance examination rate has further increased: the three-bundle rate has stabilized at more than 98%; the one-bundle rate has increased from 55.7% in 2013 to 74.3% in 2015, an increase of 33.3%.
In recent years, Hefei No.8 High School regards international cooperation in running schools as a new development strategy. The schools introduce international education concepts and foreign educational resources with a view to cultivating 21st-century world citizens. The school established the International Department and launched Sino-US cooperation projects and AFS project activities. The school has also carried out extensive cultural exchanges with South Korea, Japan, France, Britain, Germany, Canada and other countries. Inter-school interaction, mutual visits between teachers and students, an international school is gradually taking shape.
