Introduction to Fuzhou No.1 High School
The predecessor of Fuzhou No. 1 High School (福州一中, website) was Shenggong Academy founded in the 22nd year of Jiaqing in Qing Dynasty (1817 AD). The school has 68 classes and more than 3300 students. There are 273 full-time teachers, including 140 masters and above, 1 national candidate in the “Ten Million Talent Project”, 2 leading talents in the National “Ten Thousand Talents Program”, and 5 recipients of State Council special allowances.
Fuzhou No. 1 High School has won many awards: from 1957 to 1959, it has won the National College Entrance Examination Red Flag for three consecutive years; in 1960, it was awarded the honorary title of “Advanced Unit of the National Culture and Education System”; after 1986, it was again awarded by the Ministry of Personnel in 2007 3. The Ministry of Education awarded the honorary title of “Advanced Group of National Education System”. In the summer of 2016, students went to Thailand to participate in ENP volunteer activities. Our school became the first school in China to participate in international environmental protection volunteer activities abroad. The International Asteroid Naming Committee named three asteroids named “Feng Duanxing”, “Liu Xiaofengxing” and “Wu Qijinxing” after the alumni of our school.
The school sports art education has achieved fruitful results. In 2015, the launching ceremony of the physical torch relay of the first National Youth Games was held in our school. The school has always maintained excellent results in the college entrance examination, and the overall average score of the arts and sciences of the college entrance examination ranks first in the province for years. Since 2004, almost every year, students have been selected to the national team of the five university science international competitions or the International Science and Engineering Grand Prix, winning gold and silver in international competitions and winning glory for the country.
