Introduction to Chengdu Shude High School
In 1929, General Sun Zhen founded the private Shude School (成都树德中学, website). In the 1930s and 1940s, it became one of the six best private schools in the country.
In 1952, it was restructured into a public school, renamed Chengdu No. 9 Middle School, and designated as the first batch of key provincial high schools in Sichuan Province. In 1958, it was designated as the concentrated school for the returned overseas Chinese children in Sichuan Province, and in 1959 as the concentrated school for the children of senior cadres in Sichuan Province. In 1989, the name of Chengdu Shude High School was restored. In 2000, it was rated as the first batch of national demonstration high schools in Sichuan Province. In 2004, it became the first school in Sichuan Province to introduce the International High School Curriculum (VCE). From 2007 to 2010, the expansion of prestigious schools was implemented to form a “one school, three districts” school pattern. In 2009, the Chengdu Shude High School Education Group was formed to lead and help 13 member schools and promote a high-quality and balanced education. In 2010, it was identified as the first batch of pilot schools in the Ministry of Education to explore the early cultivation of top-notch innovative talents in Sichuan Province. In 2011, it became the only public high school in western China to introduce IB international courses. In the same year, he was awarded the “Recommended for High School Principals” by Peking University and the “Leadership Program” school at Tsinghua University. In 2013, it was rated as the first batch of first-level model high schools in Sichuan Province. In 2014, it became the country’s first batch of pilot universities for Chinese University Prerequisite Courses (CAP). Now it is the executive director school of the Senior High School Professional Committee of the Chinese Education Society.
Over the past 90 years, Chengdu Shude High School has trained tens of thousands of outstanding talents for the country, including many academicians, cultural giants, political elites, and business leaders.
