Introduction to Changsha Foreign Language School

The predecessor of Changsha Foreign Language School (长沙外国语学校, website) was the 23rd Middle School of Changsha City founded in 1963. It was renamed Changsha Foreign Language School in 1996. It is the first state-owned public institution in Hunan Province and the only state-owned public institution in Changsha City. Middle school.

There are 78 teaching classes in the school. There are 3772 students in junior high school, including 2076 in junior high school and 1696 in high school, including 178 in international department. There are 274 in-service staff, including 69 senior teachers, 90 intermediate teachers and 90 junior teachers. The school covers an area of 8.8 hectares and a building area of 109,000 square meters.

In 2017, Changsha Foreign Language School proposed a medium- and long-term development strategy plan for building a first-class prestigious school, and formulated the goal of building “the first prestigious school in Hunan”

The school has increasingly distinctive features in teaching foreign languages and cultural education. Teaching in small classes in English; oral English teaching for all foreign teachers; foreign language textbooks are mainly based on advanced original textbooks, supplemented by domestically compiled textbooks; language choices are diverse, and there are seven languages including English, Japanese, Russian, French, Korean, German, and Spanish. There are English-Japanese dual-primary foreign language teaching classes and Japanese language teaching classes for college entrance examinations. Small language, tennis, chess and other school-based special courses not only lead the province, but also belong to the first-class category in the country.

The school’s international exchange activities are frequent, and its social influence continues to increase. It has established friendly inter-school relations with the French French Union, the Goethe Institute in Germany, the University of Liberty in the United States, the University of Saint Joseph in the United States, and the University of Sakura Merrill in Japan.

The school covers an area of 132 acres and a building area of 107,000 square meters. The campus is green and quiet. The gymnasium, art building, experiment building, library, international exchange center, student apartment, student cafeteria, basketball court, track and field court, tennis court, etc. are fully equipped and have first-class teaching facilities. The school teaching building realizes multi-media teaching and online classes, and the student apartments are equipped with air conditioning and hot water supply. The school is planned to be a full-time school for ordinary high schools and junior high schools that can accommodate 5000 students in 90 classes, and implements a boarding management model.
