Introduction to Tianjin University
Tianjin University (website) , referred to as Tianda, was formerly known as Beiyang University. It was founded on October 2, 1895. It is the first modern university in China. Tianjin University is now a high-level research-based university with strong faculty, distinctive academic characteristics, first-class education quality and scientific research level and great influence in the world.
School of Foreign Languages and Literature
Tianjin University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education. Its predecessor was Beiyang University. It was founded on October 2, 1895. It is the first modern university in China. It is known as the “seeking truth from facts” school motto and “strict study and strict teaching requirements”. The school spirit is well known both at home and abroad. As a very important liberal arts college of Tianjin University, the School of Foreign Languages and Literature plays an irreplaceable role in the history of the construction of well-known high-level universities at home and abroad.
The school consists of 6 departments including English Department, Chinese Department, College English Teaching, College English Teaching 2, Graduate Foreign Language Teaching Department, and Small Language Teaching Department. Tianjin University Language Science Research Center, Translation and Cultural Research Center, and Foreign Countries Center for Literature Studies and Taiwan Research Institute.
The school has two undergraduate majors in English and Chinese Language and Literature. It has a Master’s degree in Chinese Language and Literature, a second-level degree in Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, and a Master’s degree in Translation.
The school has a high-level faculty with rich teaching experience. There are 118 faculty members, including 105 teachers, 5 teachers and 43 associate professors. The college also has more than 40 fellows who have returned to China to study abroad and senior teachers who have returned to China to return to China. There are more than 700 students at all levels, including more than 100 graduate students and more than 600 undergraduate students.
In the journey of building well-known high-level universities at home and abroad, in order to build a harmonious campus, the college also undertakes the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as the public foreign language courses for undergraduates, masters and doctoral students.
