Introduction to Nanjing University

English Department
The English Department of Nanjing University is one of the earliest English departments of Chinese universities. In 1924, the Department of English and the Department of Western Literature, the common German, French, and Japanese merged to form the Department of Foreign Languages. Later, it was renamed the English Teaching and Research Section. It was used until 1993 when the School of Foreign Languages of Nanjing University was established, and the English Department was officially established.
English majors have excellent academic performance, English proficiency and professional quality are among the best in the country, and they have strong competitiveness.
