School of Foreign Languages of Changchun University

The School of Foreign Languages was established in June 1987, formerly known as Changchun Foreign Language College. In the past 30 years, the college has always adhered to the cultivation of talents as the foundation, social demand as the guide, international cooperation, school-enterprise cooperation as the basis, adhere to the same scale and level, the integration of characteristics and connotation, and comprehensively improve the quality of education and teaching. We will strive to become a training-oriented foreign language and translation talent training base with rich educational resources, strong teaching resources, distinctive school characteristics, and a certain reputation in the province and even the whole country.

The college has five undergraduate majors in English (translation direction, business direction, education direction), Japanese (translation direction, travel direction), Russian, Spanish and Polish, and is open to students nationwide. It has now trained 4,630 graduates of the country and colleges. Currently there are 938 students in school.

The college has 136 full-time teachers, and undertakes professional foreign language and university foreign language teaching tasks. Among them, 46 professors and associate professors, accounting for 33.8%, 16 doctors, 7 doctors, and 62 masters. There are 1 professor of Changbai Mountain Scholars, 1 professor in the discipline, 1 provincial teaching teacher, 1 provincial top creative talent, and 1 school-level teaching teacher. Among the teachers, there are 13 “double-type” teachers, 12 IELTS examiners, and 4 Cambridge Business English examiners.

The academic atmosphere of the college is strong and the research results are fruitful. In the past three years, it has completed 6 national-level projects, 37 provincial-level scientific research projects, and published 320 academic papers (including foreign journal articles), and published 22 monographs and translations. The college has maintained academic exchanges and cooperation with domestic and foreign companies for a long time, and constantly improved the teaching level and scientific research ability of teachers. More than 40 teachers have visited the United States, Russia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Japan, South Korea, Poland and other countries. Visit, lecture, and study. The college hires foreign experts to teach.

The college is carrying out the “content-dependent” teaching reform, emphasizing the integration of content and language, relying on the history, geography, culture, customs and other content of the language target countries to continuously expand the knowledge of students and balance the development of students’ language skills. At present, our institute is the first institution in Jilin Province to implement this reform.

In order to adapt to the national “One Belt and One Road” strategy and meet the needs of the society for talents, the Foreign Languages Institute encourages students to study second and third foreign languages and other majors while studying majors in the multi-lingual + professional training mode. Professional, create a complex, applied foreign language talent. Students can graduate with a major in professional degree and a minor in professional certificate. This not only expands the students’ knowledge horizon, but also broadens the employment channels for students, so that graduates always have unique advantages in the talent market. The employment areas of graduates are distributed in the tourism, foreign trade, foreign affairs, and publishing departments of major and medium-sized cities or border trade ports across the country. The quality of graduates has been widely recognized by the society and praised by employers.
