Introduction to Hefei No.1 High School

Hefei No.1 High School (合肥一中, website) is located in Hefei City, Anhui Province. It is a key middle school in Anhui Province, a member of the UNESCO club, and an exemplary ordinary high school in Anhui Province.

The school was founded in the 28th year of Guangxu (1902), formerly known as Luzhou Middle School; after the national liberation, it was renamed Hefei No. 1 Middle School in Anhui Province. After the founding of New China, it was named Hefei Senior Middle School in Northern Anhui District; Hefei No. 1 Middle School; in 1955, it was designated as a provincial key middle school; in 2000, it was designated as a provincial demonstration high school.

The new school site is located in Binhu New District, Hefei City, covering an area of 216,667 square meters, with a total construction area of nearly 200,000 square meters, a green area of 97,500 square meters, and the campus is close to Huizhou Avenue. The school plans and designs according to the requirements of modern education and teaching. The teaching area and living area have first-class facilities.

The school currently has more than 6,000 students, more than 500 faculty members, 11 special-grade teachers, nearly 200 senior teachers, 4 doctors, and more than 60 graduates.

Over the years, Hefei No.1 High School has trained more than 10,000 students for the country and society. There are 10 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, famous physicist and Nobel Prize winner Professor Yang Zhenning, executive director and chief executive officer (CEO) of Lenovo Group Co., Ltd. Yang Yuanqing, leader of China’s space technology, “Shen VI” and “Shen VII” Chief designer Yang Baohua, chief scientist of the National 973 Project, Zhang Jun, vice president of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and other outstanding alumni.
