Introduction to Xi’an Middle School of Shaanxi Province
Xi’an Middle School of Shaanxi Province (西安中学, website) is the only secondary school directly under the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education and the first batch of demonstration high schools in Shaanxi Province. The school was founded in 1905 under the name “Xi’an Fu Middle School”. In 113 years, the school was renamed twelve times and relocated six times. It was renamed “Xi’an Middle School in Shaanxi Province” in 1954, and it has been used until now. In 2005, it moved to the new campus of Fengcheng 5th Road, Xi’an Economic Development Zone.
Thank you for the campus covers an area of 258 acres and a construction area of 137,000 square meters. There are 93 teaching classes and more than 5,000 students. The campus environment is beautiful and elegant, forming a beautiful cultural landscape. The conditions for running schools are first-class, the latest scientific and technological achievements are recruited, and the teaching facilities are improved to create high-quality educational resources for students.
Xi’an Middle School of Shaanxi Province currently has 350 faculty members and 260 full-time teachers, including 96 senior teachers. There are 13 senior teachers and special grade teachers, 103 national, provincial, and municipal model workers, outstanding teachers, advanced individuals and other honorary titles, and 103 national and provincial professional council presidents and 52 directors.
The Xi’an Middle School of Shaanxi Province established the first high school youth party school and the first youth volunteer organization in Shaanxi Province; the establishment of “February” by Chen Zhongshi, a well-known writer and vice chairman of the Chinese Writers Association “Literary Society” and more than 20 student organizations such as choirs, wind bands, dance clubs, model United Nations, model city government, archaeological society, astronomical society, etc.; “Wenjing Lecture Hall”, “Fengcheng Lecture”, “Zhaohui” The “Western-Chinese Cultural Forum” composed of “Forum”, “Teacher Forum”, and “Youth Red, White, and Blue”; perfected the system of students’ civilized etiquette education, mental health education, and independent management education; and carried out a variety of themed educational activities. The virtue of students is nourished in their perceptions and their abilities are improved in practice, which lays a solid foundation for their future development.
Xi’an Middle School of Shaanxi Province attracts brother schools from all over the country to study and exchange. In 2010, the school opened an affiliated remote school, through satellite live broadcast and network transmission, so that teachers and students of remote partner schools can synchronously “walk into” the classrooms of Xi’an Middle School in other countries. The establishment of an affiliated distance school radiates the high-quality educational resources of Xi’an Middle School to the weak schools in the province, and makes its own efforts to promote educational equity. Xi’an Middle School is also the school’s principal school. It shares the achievements and experience of education, teaching and research with the school district’s 66 Middle School and Xi’an No. 66 Middle School, and effectively promotes the balanced development of basic education in our province. In 2014, the school successfully hosted the Economic Development First Middle School, undertook the only Air Force youth aviation education experimental class set up by the Air Force in the northwest region, allowing the school’s high-quality educational resources to be fully radiated and open.
