Introduction to Chengdu No.7 High School

Chengdu No.7 High School (成都七中, website) is a famous high school with international influence. The school has made outstanding achievements in the cultivation of students’ comprehensive qualities, curriculum reform, the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents, and the promotion of education modernization and internationalization.

Chengdu No.7 High School has a long history of running schools. Its predecessor was Chengdu High School in 1905, which was founded by the merger of Mochi College and Furong College. In 1907, the school was renamed Chengdu County Middle School, and in 1952 it was renamed Chengdu No. 7 Middle School. In 1978, it became a key middle school in Sichuan Province. In 1986, it was designated as a designated contact school in Sichuan by the Ministry of Education. In 2000, it was rated as the first batch of national model ordinary high schools by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education.

Chengdu No.7 High School currently has two campuses, a tree-lined and a high-tech zone, covering an area of 238 acres, with nearly 6000 teachers and students.

Chengdu No.7 High School has 4 Chengdu education experts, 26 special-grade teachers in Sichuan, 37 academic leaders in Chengdu, 3 senior teachers and 202 senior teachers. The school has more than 100 master’s degrees and pedagogy Teachers who have completed the master’s program, many teachers who graduated from Tsinghua University, Peking University and other famous universities or returned from the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

Chengdu No.7 High School has started curriculum reform since the 1980s, and gradually created a scientific and complete quality education curriculum system. At present, there are more than 100 elective courses and more than 40 activity courses in each school semester. The school has more than 40 student clubs of various types. Eight students from the school have participated in the Intel International Science and Engineering Grand Prix and won good results, and there are 6 asteroids named after them. The school’s model association, future leader society, robot team, wind band, volleyball team, football team, aerobics, orienteering, sports dance and other arts teams lead the west and have great influence in the country. Seven middle school students have won the championship of the VEX Robot World Championship, the first place in the national middle school student leadership competition, the champion of the CCTV National English TV Competition, the special prize of the National Financial Literacy Competition and other honors.

In 2018, Chengdu No. 7 High School admitted 74 students to Peking University and Tsinghua University, accounting for about 1/2 of Chengdu. In addition, nearly 200 students are admitted to top foreign universities every year.

Chengdu No.7 High School has established friendly cooperative relations with several foreign schools such as Jinx High School in the United States, Beaver Middle School in Boston in the United States, Jean-Manuel Bilingual School in Paris, France, and Charlemagne High School in Aachen, Germany. Organized more than 200 people including teachers and students to participate in international exchanges and mutual visits. The school student orchestra has visited the United States, Australia, Singapore, Austria and other places for performances and exchanges. The school robot team and the science and technology team also went abroad to participate in related events many times and achieved excellent results. There are 14 foreign teachers in the International Department of the school, offering double diploma diploma courses in China and the United States, providing undergraduate bridging courses and credit transfer courses for overseas universities, etc. It has accumulated more than 2,000 outstanding students. Well-known personalities including former US first lady Michelle Obama, Nobel Prize winner David Gross, father of big data, Oxford University professor Victor Mayer Schonberg and others gave lectures or speeches here; American Century Jazz Saxophone Orchestra, Tennessee Clarinet Arts Troupe and other art groups have also delivered performances at our school.
