Introduction to Chongqing No. 2 Foreign Language School
Chongqing No. 2 Foreign Language School (重庆第二外国语学校, website) was founded as Chongqing Women’s Middle School set up in 1940. Since liberation, it has changed its name several times, and was reformed and renamed as Chongqing No.2 Foreign Language School in 1997. It has become stronger and stronger since it was reorganized in 2002 and run by three parties: Chongqing Educational Committee, Tongjing Group and Hongsheng Group. Now the school is trying to realize the dream of “First Class in Chonqing, Well-known in China”.

During the past few years, the scshool has got a lot of honors and titles such as “One of the first three middle schools which have passed the accreditation done by CITA (Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation, USA)”; “The Experimental Primary and Middle School for Popularizing Mandarin”; The Key School in Chongqing”; “ The Civilized Unit in Chongqing”; “The Green School in Chongqing”; “ The Safe and Civilized Campus in Chongqing”; “ One of the One Hundred Strongest Middle Schools in China”; “One of the Ten Model Schools in the Campus Cultural Construction of the First National Primary and Middle Schools”.
There are approximately 3,600 students from six different countries studying in the school. Chongqing No. 2 Foreign Language School is located in Nan Shan Mountain Scenic Spot area with beautiful environment and convenient transportation, and is about eight miles from the city center. The campus covers an area of more than 200 acres and is equipped with modern facilities such as a gymnasium, a football field, badminton courts, cafeterias, dorms and the academic complex buildings to meet the academic needs.
The International Department is specially responsible for international education and international communication. It offers the educational programs including training courses in Chinese to foreign students, winter/ summer camps for both Chinese and foreign students, high school diploma programs for international students and the courses for going through to some famous universities in both China and America, etc.
