Introduction to Changchun Sci-Tech University
Changchun Sci-Tech University (长春科技学院, website) is an ordinary undergraduate institution of higher learning approved by the Ministry of Education and was founded by Mr. Zhang Dian, President of Jilin Donghua Education Group. The predecessor was the Jilin Province Blue Shield Automobile Driving and Repairing Professional School, which was established in 1986; co-founded the Development College of Jilin Agricultural University in 2000 with Jilin Agricultural University; approved as an independent college by the Ministry of Education in 2004; converted to ordinary by the Ministry of Education in 2013 Undergraduate University-Changchun University of Science and Technology.
Changchun Sci-Tech University is located in Shuangyang District, Changchun City, Jilin Province, on the shore of the beautiful Shuangyang Lake. The campus covers an area of 847,200 square meters, with a building area of 429,900 square meters. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 109 million yuan. A library of 33,800 square meters has a library of 1.1 million books and 889,700 e-books. The university adapts to the needs of applied talents for local economic and social development, and builds a professional system with engineering as the main body and agronomy as its specialty, and coordinated development of medicine, management, economics, science, art, and literature. There are 55 undergraduate majors and 44 junior college majors, and there are nearly 14,000 students. The teaching unit consists of 10 undergraduate colleges, 1 college, 4 teaching departments (colleges).
The university has 935 teachers, including 394 full-time teachers. There are 176 full-time teachers with senior and middle professional titles, accounting for 44.67%; 294 graduates with a master’s degree or above, accounting for 74.62%; and 88 dual-teacher and dual-energy teachers, accounting for 22.34%. It has various outstanding talents, such as academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, recipients of special allowances from the State Council, experts at the provincial and ministerial level, outstanding teaching teachers, doctoral tutors, Changbaishan scholars, and Changbaishan skilled teachers.
Changchun Sci-Tech University aims at the cultivation of high-quality, application-oriented talents, and builds a “capability-based, three-dimensional, three-in-one” talent training model. Organically integrate the teaching system, educational content, teaching methods and teaching management methods. Vigorously promote and improve the credit system and focus on the cultivation of student personality. Particular attention is paid to school-enterprise cooperation, integration of production and education, and the combination of production, education and research. The school attaches great importance to the organic combination of entrepreneurship education and professional education. It has the largest university student entrepreneurship park in the province. It implements a six-in-one, hierarchical, progressive, and open entrepreneurship education model to continuously improve the number and quality of graduate entrepreneurship and form employment. Take the good situation of entrepreneurship and employment promotion. Has been rated as “Jilin Provincial Top Ten Demonstration Pioneering Parks” by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Affairs of Jilin Province, and “National Pioneering Incubation Demonstration Base” by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. The school vigorously promotes the “dual certificate” system. In the past three years, more than 11,000 people have obtained various vocational qualification certificates at various levels; more than 700 students have participated in the “National College Student Mechanical Innovation Design Competition”, “National College Students Mathematical Modeling Contest”, and “National College Students’ UFIDA New Road Cup” simulation operations. The “Sports Competition”, “National University Student Electronic Design Competition”, “Jilin Internet + University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition” and other discipline skills competitions won gold and silver. In the past three years, the school has obtained a total of 427 postgraduates, accounting for 5.42% of the total number of undergraduates, ranking the forefront of similar institutions in the province. Among them, the average admission rate for the postgraduate entrance examination of the School of Life Sciences in the past three years reached 19.02%. The initial employment rates of graduates of the last three sessions were 86.81%, 81.99%, and 84.76%, and the year-end employment rates exceeded 94%.
Universities attach great importance to foreign cooperation in running schools and exchanges. At present, it has signed cooperation agreements with 41 high-caliber countries in South Korea, Russia, the United States, Thailand, Singapore, and Taiwan. Through external exchange platforms, students can conduct more than ten forms of short-term and long-term exchanges or study for graduate students. In the past three years, eight teachers have successively visited the University of Virginia, California Baptist University, South Korea ’s Jianguo University, Australia ’s Melbourne University of Technology, and the University of Sydney for high-end visits or degrees. The food science and engineering undergraduate program jointly organized by the school and the California Baptist University has been approved by the Ministry of Education, and currently has 129 students. The school has also carried out international scientific research cooperation with sika deer products development and utilization with universities such as Jianguo University in South Korea.
