Hunan Biological and Electromechanical Polytechnic (湖南生物机电职业技术学院) is a full-time public institution of higher learning with a history of more than 100 years. It is a high-level vocational school with Chinese characteristics and a professional construction plan (referred to as the “Double High Plan”) unit with separate admission qualifications, Hunan Provincial Excellence and Hunan Model Higher Vocational College. The predecessor of the college, “Hunan Private Study Academy,” was founded in 1903. The pioneer of the democratic revolution, Huang Xing, the educator Xu Teli, and the founding leader Mao Zedong were outstanding representatives of the early teachers of the academy. They cultivated a large number of national leaders such as revolutionary martyrs Mao Zetan, national leader Wang Shoudao, and “father of the national anthem” Tian Han.

The college covers an area of 2470 acres and is divided into two areas and one base, namely, Donghu Campus, Mapoling Campus, Industry-University-Research Demonstration Field and Super Hybrid Rice Production Demonstration and Talent Training Base. The total construction area is 260,000 square meters.
