Introduction to Chengdu University of TCM
Chengdu University of TCM (成都中医药大学, website), formerly known as Chengdu College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, was founded in 1956. It is one of the earliest four colleges and universities of Chinese medicine approved by the State Council under the care of Zhou Enlai and other first-generation leaders of the party and the country. 1995 The current name was approved by the former State Education Commission in 2006. In 2006, the former Sichuan Provincial Health Management Cadre College and Sichuan Reproductive Health College were merged. After more than 60 years of development, the school has become a high-level university of traditional Chinese medicine with traditional Chinese medicine as the main body, medical and health-related disciplines supporting each other, and coordinated development. The Sichuan Provincial Government and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine have jointly established universities , Excellent school for evaluation of undergraduate teaching work level of the Ministry of Education, national “double first-class” discipline construction university.
The university covers an area of 1,800 acres, with 19 colleges and 36 undergraduate majors. There are more than 22,000 full-time students, including more than 2,800 graduate students.
Chengdu University of TCM is the first batch of doctoral and master’s degree programs in Chinese medicine and the first batch of pilot units of professional degrees in clinical medicine (master’s and doctoral). There are currently 3 doctoral degree authorizations for first-level disciplines, 27 doctoral degree authorizations for second-level disciplines, 9 authorizations for master’s degrees for first-level disciplines, 70 authorizations for master’s degrees for second-level disciplines, and 3 postdoctoral mobile stations.
Chengdu University of TCM has 4 national key disciplines (Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese Traditional Medicine, Acupuncture and Massage, TCM Gynecology), 44 provincial and ministerial key disciplines; 6 national specialties, 7 provincial specialties 6. Among the university’s existing professional and technical personnel, there are more than 600 people with senior titles, and more than 500 supervisors for doctoral and master students. Chengdu University of TCM always attaches great importance to talent training, adheres to the quality education concept of “let students define the development direction, allow students to get development opportunities, and enhance students ‘development momentum”, and continuously improves students’ ideological and moral level, scientific and cultural literacy, innovative ability and Social adaptability and promote students’ all-round development. Since the establishment of the school, the school has cultivated a large number of senior Chinese medicine talents for the country, including the first batch of Chinese medicine, graduates of Chinese medicine and master of Chinese medicine in New China, the first doctor of Chinese medicine in New China, and the first Chinese medicine Postdoctoral in Pharmacy and the first PhD in facial sciences. The school cooperated with Chengdu Fifth People’s Hospital to jointly build the Chengdu Fifth People’s Hospital affiliated to Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine / Second Clinical Medical College / Clinical Medical Center of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Chengdu University of TCM continuously promotes international exchanges and cooperation, and has established exchanges and cooperation with universities, medical units, research institutions and academic groups in 32 countries and regions. The school is one of the universities that accepts Chinese government scholarships. It has received and trained academic education students (including undergraduates, masters, and doctors) and many types of short-term advanced training students from more than 30 countries and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. Schools in the United States, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other countries and regions have launched academic education and student exchange programs. With the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school opened the “Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Portuguese University of Portugal” in Portugal to carry out bachelor degree education in Chinese medicine. The school cooperates with the Guangdong-Australia Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park to build the International University of Chinese Medicine University (Macau).
