Introduction to Hainan Provincial Sports Academy
Hainan Provincial Sports Academy is located in the beautiful tropical island seaside resort city-Haikou City, Hainan Province. The college is located in the Political and Cultural Center of Hainan Province, adjacent to the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the People’s Congress and the CPPCC, the Hainan Provincial Museum, the Hainan Provincial Library, the Hainan Opera and Dance Theater, and the Hainan Provincial Cultural Park.
The college was established in February 2016 with the approval of the Hainan Provincial People’s Government and filed by the Ministry of Education. It is affiliated with the Hainan Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Television, Publishing, and Sports. It is under the guidance of the Provincial Education Department in order to carry out higher sports vocational education and train sports professionals and high-level athletes. For the purpose, it also carries out sports scientific research, anti-doping, sports medical rehabilitation and physical fitness monitoring, and provides science and technology, medical rehabilitation, cultural education and other guarantees for sports work and sports teams. It is the only sports vocational education in Hainan Province Full-time higher vocational sports colleges with a trinity of provincial sports training and sports scientific research.
The college has 7 party and government management institutions, 7 training competition institutions, 1 sports scientific research institution and 6 teaching and teaching auxiliary institutions. At the same time, it is a social sports instructor training center authorized by the Hainan Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Television, Publishing and Sports.
Hainan Provincial Sports Academy has been recruiting students from inside and outside the province since 2017. Currently there are 208 college students and 72 secondary school students. By 2020, the total number of students is planned to reach 2100. There are 67 teachers in the college, including 54 full-time teachers and 13 external teachers; 20 teachers with a deputy title or higher. The college currently has five majors: social sports, sports health and rehabilitation, sports training, leisure sports, golf and management. Adhere to the human-oriented talent training model, and train retired athletes and ordinary high school students to become high-end technical talents and high-quality technical and practical talents required for the development of the sports industry.
Hainan Provincial Sports Academy, while carrying out higher vocational education, also undertakes the heavy task of developing competitive sports in Hainan Province. At present, there are eight professional sports teams including sailing, windsurfing, weightlifting, boxing, taekwondo, beach volleyball, track and field and golf. Among them there are 7 international athletes, 84 athletes, 194 first-level athletes, and 62 people. Selected for the national team. At the same time, the college’s amateur sports schools also set up eleven items such as basketball, tennis, table tennis, golf, windsurfing, weightlifting, beach volleyball, boxing, track and field, surfing, and kickboxing to cultivate reserve forces for Hainan’s outstanding sports teams.
The construction of the Hainan Provincial Sports Academy Wuzhishan Sports Training Base’s Olympic training hall and its supporting projects has been basically completed, and from January 2018, it will fully assume the service guarantee of the national team. In August 2017, Wuzhishan Training Base was named “National Wuzhishan Sports Training Base” by the State General Administration of Sports.
