Introduction to Shanghai Jian Qiao University
Shanghai Jian Qiao University (上海建桥学院, website) is a private university focusing on undergraduate education and cultivating application-oriented professionals in production, construction, management, and service. The school was funded by a group of entrepreneurs enthusiastic about education and public welfare such as Zhou Xingzeng in 1999. It was formally registered and established in June of the following year. In April 2001, the school was approved as the “Private Shanghai Jianqiao Vocational and Technical College” and became a major specialist Higher vocational colleges with level education; in August 2003, the school was renamed “Shanghai Jianqiao Vocational and Technical College” and was listed as one of the 11 exemplary higher vocational college construction units in Shanghai in the same year. In September 2005, approved by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and filed by the Ministry of Education, it was agreed to establish the “Shanghai Jianqiao College” on the basis of the “Shanghai Jianqiao Vocational and Technical College”, and the school gradually became a full-time system focusing on undergraduate education. Ordinary colleges and universities; In September 2006, the first batch of undergraduate students registered for admission; in July 2010, the school was approved as a bachelor’s degree awarding unit. The school has been awarded the honorary title of “Shanghai Civilized Unit” for seven consecutive years since 2004, and was awarded the honorary title of “National Civilized Unit” in February 2015. In the autumn of 2015, the school was relocated from Pudong Kangqiao to Pudong Lingang as a whole. Shanghai Jian Qiao University has a total investment of more than 2.8 billion yuan. The campus covers an area of 532,500 square meters, with a planned construction area of 470,000 square meters, and a completed area of about 420,000 square meters. The total value of the school’s teaching and scientific research equipment is 233 million yuan, 6,105 teaching computers, 173 multimedia classrooms, and a total of 16,601 seats in the multimedia classroom and the voice laboratory. At present, the school has 9 secondary experimental centers and 2 public schools. There are 174 laboratories for sharing practical teaching resources. The number of seats in the library has reached 2894, the library has a collection of more than 1,577,100 paper books, 262,000 electronic books, and 60 types of databases.
As of September 2019, there were 19,857 full-time students at Shanghai Jian Qiao University, including 17,197 undergraduates. The school is the first private university in Shanghai to obtain admissions qualifications for international students. Currently, there are more than ten full-time international students in the school. There are also about 100 short-term international students. Since its inception, the school has sent more than 45,800 qualified graduates to the society in 17 sessions. Jianqiao students have been welcomed by employers for “graduation means employment, employment after starting, sustainable development”. In recent years, the school’s employment rate has been stable at more than 98%, the contract rate has remained at about 93%, and employer satisfaction has remained stable.
Shanghai Jian Qiao University currently has 1,166 faculty members, of whom 867 are full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 76.36% have a master’s degree or higher, and 269 have titles of associate high or higher, accounting for 31.03%.
