Jiangsu Union Technical Institute (江苏联合职业技术学院) is an independent institution of higher education at the college level, which was formally established in June 2003 with the approval of the provincial government and registration by the Ministry of Education. The college implements the “small college, big school” model of running a school. It has several higher vocational and technical schools as branches of the college and several schools.
The main functions of Jiangsu United Vocational and Technical College are: coordinating and helping higher vocational and technical schools to formulate development plans; coordinating and coordinating the annual enrollment plan of five-year students in higher vocational and technical schools; and organizing higher vocational and technical schools to carry out educational and teaching exchanges, cooperation, and research; Coordinates the professional construction of higher vocational and technical schools and the sharing of teaching resources between schools; is responsible for the management of school status and the issue of graduation certificates for five-year students in higher vocational and technical schools.
At present, the Jiangsu Union Technical Institute has 53 branches including the Nanjing Engineering Branch and a Jiangsu drama school, as well as 36 schools and 4 higher normal schools. A total of 93 schools are college-run units. There are 18 majors, more than 170 five-year vocational majors, more than 700 specialty points, and 200,000 five-year vocational students. The college now has more than 3,200 on-campus training bases and nearly 3,000 stable off-campus training bases. Nearly 50 school-run units have conducted international exchanges and cooperation, with more than 110 cooperation and exchange projects, and the scope of cooperation covers 19 countries and regions. Actively carry out vocational skills appraisal work, vigorously promote the “two-certificate system”, and strive to enable students to obtain both a graduation certificate and a vocational skills certificate when they graduate, enhancing employment competitiveness. The college actively promotes the “order-based” talent training model, and has established a stable employment base. In recent years, the employment rate has remained above 95%, and many majors have experienced a shortage of graduates.
