The College of Overseas Education of Nanjing University of Technology is the organization and management institution for the implementation of foreign-related schools. It is mainly responsible for the negotiation and implementation of Sino-foreign cooperative education projects. The long-term and short-term enrollment, training and management of international students in China, the implementation of Chinese language and Chinese culture courses for foreign students. The construction of the teaching staff, the inter-school student exchange program and the organization and management of the international education project, the organization and implementation of the study abroad preparatory education, and the language training of various exchange programs.
The college has been committed to the development of high-quality Sino-foreign cooperative education projects, relying on the quality education resources of Nanjing University of Technology, strengthening exchanges and cooperation with well-known foreign universities, and introducing international advanced teaching and management experience. Up to now, a total of 6 Sino-foreign cooperative undergraduate programs have been established, with more than 1,000 students. Among them, three projects of chemistry, financial mathematics and material physics were co-cultivated with the University of Sheffield, UK, and three projects of pharmaceutical engineering, electronic information engineering, mechanical engineering and automation were developed in cooperation with Dublin University of Technology, Ireland. The Sino-foreign cooperative education project is included in the national plan for enrollment, adopting the “3+1”, dual-campus, double-degree Chinese-foreign joint training mode, and the four-year academic system. The qualified students will also receive the graduation certificate and bachelor’s degree certificate from Nanjing University of Technology and overseas cooperation. University degree certificate (consistent with the certificate obtained by the local student). After more than ten years of school practice, the “3+1” joint training model has been recognized by schools, society, students and parents. In recent years, 90% of students who have gone abroad have successfully applied to graduate universities in the world after graduation, and the top 100 universities in the world account for 70%. By 2019, a total of more than 700 students have applied to the top 100 universities in the world to pursue postgraduate studies.
Since 2019, the college has added a Sino-US “1+2+1” double-degree joint training program and a Sino-Australian “2+2” dual-degree joint training program. The Sino-US “1+2+1” project was jointly established with the University of East Washington, USA. Students will study at Nanjing University of Technology in the first and fourth year, and study at the University of East Washington in the second and third year. Received a diploma and bachelor’s degree from Nanjing University of Technology and a degree certificate from the University of East Washington (consistent with the certificate obtained by the local students). The “1+2+1” projects in China and the United States are open to finance: finance, computer science and technology. The Sino-Australian “2+2” project was established in conjunction with the University of Queensland, Australia. Students study at Nanjing University of Technology in the first and second year of study, and study at the University of Queensland in Australia in the third and fourth year. Students with good qualifications will also receive Nanjing University of Technology. Diploma and Bachelor’s degree certificate and degree certificate from the University of Queensland, Australia (consistent with the certificate obtained by the local student). The China-Australia “2+2” project is open to electrical engineering and automation. Through cooperation with overseas friendly schools and related organizations, the College actively explores various international education programs and provides opportunities for our students to receive high-level overseas education.
The college has obtained international student enrollment qualification since January 1998. Over the past 20 years, it has trained nearly 1,000 academic students, exchange students and advanced students from all over the world. The students are from Russia, Britain, Germany, Korea, USA, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam. Dozens of countries and regions such as Kazakhstan, Ethiopia, and South Africa. In 2015, the school was approved by the Hanban HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) Authorized Examination Center; in 2016, the school was approved by Jiangsu Province “Study in Jiangsu Target School”; in 2018, the school was approved to accept the “Jiangsu Excellent Talents Selection Program” School qualification. The school actively participates in national education cooperation and exchanges along the “Belt and Road” and cooperates with universities such as the Mongolian University of Science and Technology to carry out joint training programs for international students. In 2015, the school began to enroll large-scale enrolled students, and now offers 7 undergraduate majors in English, 13 undergraduate programs in Chinese, 16 master’s degree programs, and 6 doctoral programs, including engineering, science, art, and economics. And management and other subject areas. In 2019, there were 500 students from all walks of life in the school, and 86% of the students were educated.
The college and the Jinling Library and other units have jointly established a cultural practice base for foreign students. There are many cultural and sports associations such as the foreign students’ softball team, the dragon and the lion dance team, and the Taijiquan team. They carry out the “Overseas Cultural Festival”, “Cultural China Tour” and “Chinese and Foreign Food Festival”. Rich campus culture activities such as “I love learning Chinese” help foreign students to become familiar with the Chinese learning environment and campus life. The international student dance dragon and lion dance team won many awards in the provincial and above competitions. The school won many honorary titles such as the 2016 “Tongle Jiangsu” Excellent Organization Award.
